The election season is over but repercussion of that vicious months is taking an effect on those who were defeated.
Ex-DILG secretary Mar Roxas is now in a bind after clashing with the incoming President Rodrigo Duterte, tirades and attacks flew from every direction and now campaign donors of the defeated camp fears the backlash of Duterte and wants to get out of Duterte’s crosshairs as much as possible.
The Standard columnist Jojo Robles said a “high-flying entrepreneur” told him that Roxas was having difficulty filling his Soce because
According to The Standard columnist of Jojo Robles “no businessman worth his billions wants to be put in the crosshairs of the new Duterte administration.” stating that a “high-flying entrepreneur” was his source.
“According to the businessman, he did give money to Roxas during the recent campaign. But while this election investor gave to Roxas, he refuses to sign any document declaring that he did. ‘Why would I, when that would mean that I could be pursued by Duterte, his people or even my competitors for the next six years?’ the businessman said,” Robles added.
Abaya again
It seems like Mar Roxas and his camp did not foresee the upcoming defeat and failed to secure their donors, they discuss who’s to blame.
“What Mar and his party could have done was to secure not only the donations of businessmen but also their signatures on the forms declaring their generosity. Then again, planning for such eventualities and doing the paperwork beforehand probably never occurred to Roxas and his party, which is headed by—no surprise there—the super-efficient outgoing Transportation Secretary Joseph Emilio Abaya,” said Robles.
Mar Roxas failed to submit his SOCE (statement of contributions and expenditures) on time and requested a 14 days extension for it. All election candidates are required to submit their SOCE’s 30 days after the election or be barred from running for any public office after the 3rd offense.
