“Hindi ko sinasabing bumoto kayo sa akin,” Duterte said

DUTERTE'S CLOSING STATEMENT (Final Presidential Debate):

“I do not have the credentials of a summa cum laude. Tamang tama lang ho. Awa naman ng Diyos sa amin, we are just migrants to Mindanao. Of course my mother is a Mindanaoan. Ang pangako ko sa inyo, ito. Sisikapin ko i-suppress to a minimum. Criminality…pati droga umabot na sa bukid.

Galit talaga ako. Sabi nila na mamamatay-tao, baka talaga. Ang hinihingi ko lang, stop. And I will fix government. Corruptioin must stop… Ordinaryong tao lang ako, ayoko mapahiya. ‘Pag sinabi kong huminto kayo, huminto kayo. I have one word for all of government dito sa Pilipinas: Stop. S-T-O-P. Just stop. Just obey the law… It’s really the interest of the country. Gagawin ko po ‘yan.

I will stop corruption, walang droga, kung maaari lang maubos ko, pati tao, okay lang, sabay na sa droga. Criminality gano’n din… I have to talk to the Mindanaoan people for peace. Hindi ko makaya kung anu-anong usapan o giyera kasi ito historical ito, and even the NPAs… Wala po akong hangarin except for the country. And I pray to God. Hindi ko sinasabing bumoto kayo sa akin… They can make it happen, I suppose. Ako ‘pag sinabi kong huminto, huminto ka diyan. ‘Pag sinabi kong gagawin ko diyan, ginagawa ko talaga… It could be at the expense of the honor or the prestige of the presidency, wala akong pakialam.

Basta ako may trabaho at gagawin ko… I’m a very impatient man. Wala akong maipagmamayabang. Ang ipagmamayabang ko lang trabaho lang. Pero noong abogado ako medyo matino na ako… I will not dwell so much on the niceties of life.”

“Hindi ko sinasabing bumoto kayo sa akin…”

One thing I admire about this man is that he never importuned the people to vote for him, nor did he ever ask us to vote for him assertively like what the other candidates do. His humility is worth emulating.

He even said this in some of his interviews, “Kung wala na kayong ibang mapili, tingnan niyo lang ako“. He’s giving us the option to see through what is happening in the Philippines today, to decide based on our experiences as ordinary citizens, to judge not just by words, but by knowing what our nation really needs.

This just proves that Mayor Duterte is not hungry for power. In his closing statement during the last presidential debate tonight, it was clear that he’s just aiming for the common good and for the betterment of our country.
