Camille Prats shows support for Mayor Rodrigo Duterte

Date:

As the celebrities’ support for Mayor Rodrigo Duterte continues to flood, another known female celebrity announces support for the presidential candidate.

Camille Prats posted on her Facebook page yesterday about voting for Duterte despite the previous issues that involved him. Prats mainly talked about how women in our society fought to attain freedom and self-determination and end discrimination against them.

Bilang isang babae, matagal nating pinaglaban na maging patas ang paningin sa atin ng mundo. We fought hard for equal rights, to have access in almost everything we were not allowed to do as dictated by the society we grew up in. We fought hard to believe that we have absolute freedom to be whoever we want to be, and to be courageous in standing for what we believe in.”

Moreover, Prats encouraged the women to make the choice despite the questions on Duterte’s morality. She hopes that the Mayor will continue to contribute to programs and advocacies that protect the women’s rights, as he did in Davao City.

Here's Camille Prats' whole Facebook post:

“As a woman and as a mother, I am putting my vote, my son’s future and all my hopes for our country on Mayor Duterte as the leader of our country. Hindi siya perpekto bilang tao, marami siyang pagkakamali at pagkukulang lalo na pagdating sa pananalita. Bilang isang babae, matagal nating pinaglaban na maging patas ang paningin sa atin ng mundo. We fought hard for equal rights, to have access in almost everything we were not allowed to do as dictated by the society we grew up in. We fought hard to believe that we have absolute freedom to be whoever we want to be, and to be courageous in standing for what we believe in.

At dahil sa paniniwalang yan we did not and still do not condone Mayor’s controversial remarks. Instead, we ourselves held him accountable to acknowledge and apologize for his insensitivity.

At bilang isa sa mga libo libong kababaihan na may pinaglalaban, kahit na maraming tao ang paningin sakanya ay immoral, naniniwala ako that he will contribute to the welfare and advocacy of women’s rights, the way he did in Davao.

Tayo ngayon ang makabagong panahon na mga kababaihan, pinaglalaban natin ang isang bagay na kinatatakutan ng karamihan, ang PAGBABAGO.

We will not discriminate against others, because we ourselves were once victims of discrimination. We condemn acts that are offensive, BUT

we support those which we believe contribute to the development of our country.
